What If President Trump Did Not Lie?

What if on January 6, 2021 President Trump had not lied to his mob in his speech when he said he would be at the Capitol when they marched there as he told them to do?  What if President Trump, instead of going into the White House to watch television, had marched down the street at the head of his mob?  He would have been surrounded by his Secret Service agents (why are they called the Secret Service, everyone knows what they do), who are fully committed to protecting the president, with his mob loyally following close behind him. 

 When the president reached the barriers around the Capitol, the Capitol Police would have let him through, after all he is the president, and when he reached the Capitol doors, again he would have been allowed entry.  Without a doubt his mob would have been right on his heels going into the Capitol, or the Capitol Police would have only allowed the president and his Secret Service staff to enter and stopped his followers – a very difficult separation. 

 In this “What If” scenario, if the mob gained entry to the Capitol under the authority of the president, are they released/directed to roam, loot, steal, and vandalize as they actually did?  Does the president lead them into the Senate and/or House chambers?

The mob entering the Capitol under presidential cover creates a very shaky and confused situation.  While the Capitol Police are committed to protecting the Capitol and elected officials and staff, and the Secret Service is committed to protecting the president, which should have been complimentary goals, it is not too far a stretch to see that in such a confusing situation, the two enforcement agencies could have seen each other as harming the other’s purpose.  Secret Service VS Capitol Police!  Crazy, but?

Of course, there is no way to know what would have happened if President Trump had been a true leader and had been at the head of the march to the Capitol.  In this case we can only be happy that President Trump followed his character and lied to his most loyal followers.

  Lumen 22-5 Book Report   Posted – July 12, 2022   Irrelevant tid bit – Warning: dates on the calendar are closer than they appear.     This is about three interesting, although difficult to read, book(s) – The Illuminatus! trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson.   The three books in the trilogy are “The Eye in the Pyramid”, “The Golden Apple”, and “Leviathan”.   A Rolling Stone review included in the book says, “A hundred pages in I couldn’t figure out why I was wasting my time with this nonsense.”   I agree with that evaluation as the book has many characters, does not follow any consistent time frame (it jumps from 1500 to 1975), and several times develops a complex story line only to then tell you it is all false – very confusing.   So why tell you about such a disaster?   The story is not that important, but it explores interesting ideas and is thought provoking, using a science-fiction format.   ...
